Hi, I’m Amy Szpara
Amy Marie Szpara is a former military journalist and smalltown Louisiana news reporter, who covered crime, school, and politics. A current online English professor, teaching writing courses for three universities, she guides new writers in academic research and critical writing, while encouraging their own creative processes and helping them develop their individual unique writing styles. She serves as instructor, cheerleader and coach to students.
Amy has a Master of Arts in English Literature with a concentration in Creative Writing, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in English and cognates in Sociology. She also studied Military Journalism, Photography, and Public Affairs at the Defense Information School during military training.
Amy is a member of Word Weavers International, and meets with the Maggie Valley in-person group monthly. She has attended the 2026 Asheville Christian Writers Conference and will be attending the 2026 Blue Ridge Christian Writers Conference.
